When I started to write about books and reading, it involved way too much thinking and thinking and remembering. Making a book list of the books that you have read can be overwhelming. I decided on a few parameters for myself, which included no books read before I was an adult. BUT, I could still put on books that I had read with my children. And it turns out, that all the books that I remember reading when I was a child were read to and by my own children. So I added another column to my book list for genre. The children book titles just kept coming. So I am putting out another list, featuring my favorite children’s books.

4. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak
5. Little Polar Bear by Hans de Beer

9. Tales of .......... by Beatrix Potter
10. The Eleventh Hour by Graeme Base
11. The Forgotten Door by Alexander Key
12. A Child’s Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson
13. Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden and Hal Iggulden
Also, the more I write, the more I remember. So the list is very fluid, and I just remembered that I left off Jam Berry!! My children will also have many, many opinions on this matter. What books do you read to your children and/or students? What are your favorite childrens books??

Our copies of Time for Bed and Where the Wild Things Are are starting to falling apart from so much use. They are great books.
ReplyDeleteOther books we like are: My Friend Rabbit, Green Eggs and Ham, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and The Napping House. We also have favorite illustrators. We'll buy a children's book just based on illustrations sometimes.
I just remembered. Both of my girls have adored the Magic Tree House series. Those books are fun and teach a litle history in each story.
ReplyDeleteThe Cub Scouts I taught a few years ago could not stop talking about the Captain Underpants series. Hahaha! I read a few of the stories myself and while they are definitely not classics material, they are pretty funny. ;)
OOOOH!! What about those one books where it was Benjamin the Bunny?! Do you know who I mean... I can't remember the rest of them other than they were little teeny tiny books but they were AWESOME!
ReplyDeletethose books were by beatrix potter. she is on my favorite children author list, but not on my favorite childrens book list. another series to add. Benjamin Bunny is Peter Rabbits cousin. he was trouble!

ReplyDeleteI just remembered another book we love...The True Story of the Three Little Pigs written by A. Wolf. That is such a fun story. Haha.

and by the way, as i said, the list is fluid.....and has been changed !!
